How to Replace an replacement audi a4 key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is situated near the transmission's edge over the flywheel gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can start spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test as there are different connector pins, and they all have different functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is functional, it should read about 1000 ohms. Check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, I experienced a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors aren't firing at all. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole, and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the three with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I get zero Ohm. I think the issue is in another location.

1200px-Vauxhall_logo_2019.svg_.pngI also tried to reset the PID without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is disconnected and it runs perfectly when it is connected but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. But i'm worried that I may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find the spare in a salvage shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines have an ECU that must know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injectors, etc. In order to do this it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these goes bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a malfunctioning G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or a misfire when you are in gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is likely that your sensor is deteriorating and requires replacement audi key cost uk. The good thing is that they are very cheap and easy to find, especially when you're looking at the Bosch sensor, which is what we have. Alternately, the GM version of this component is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be the cause of many issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of your audi tt key programming's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other components of the car to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It transmits a signal via a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then processes the signal to control fuel, timig, and boost, and also transmitting it to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms resistance between these two points. This is a standard part across the audi key fob 80 100, 200, replace UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones might be availble in wrecking yards.happy-young-woman-with-key-sitting-in-new-car-2022-12-16-21-31-14-utc-min-scaled.jpg
